It’s easy to forget how novel the song was when it came out in 1996. No, they weren’t the first band to make breakbeat rock, but they were the first to do it precisely that way.
Breathe was The Prodigy’s eleventh single, and the second release from The Fat of the Land. The alligator in the video was borrowed from Amazing Animals, who provided filmmakers with exotic creatures until one of the Chipperfield family (who ran the business) was prosecuted for animal cruelty.
