I was just reading Lucy Cage’s passionate, well-written piece on Kristin Hersh’s autobiography and it reminded me tangentially of The Breeders – a project featuring Hersh’s stepsister and bandmate, Tanya Donnelly, fronted by Kim Deal of the Pixies.
Iris was one of those songs that could be raw and powerful without screaming. Yet another “I want to be that when I grow up” moment.

I thought Cannonball was a catchy enough song. It just didn’t steal my heart the way Iris did.
