Released in October 1978, this superb song only reached number 44 in the UK singles chart, which is just not right at all! It’s from the album Lionheart, which did at least go top ten.
Hammer Horror was Kate’s third single and the first from Lionheart. Although the song’s poor performance must have been disappointing, the top 20 success of the next single, Wow, proved reassuring and consolidated Kate’s reputation as a solidly-selling – if somewhat unique – pop star.
Hammer Horror‘s lyrics describe an actor in The Hunchback of Notre Dame who is haunted by his predecessor. Woooooooh!
