The new trailer for Tim Burton’s 70s-set vampire comedy is setting me all a-tingle with its winsome mix of funny, sexy, and downright spectacular.
Dark Shadows is based on the 60s gothic soap, starring Burton regulars Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. Depp plays Barnabas Collins, a 200 year-old vampire, who is raised from his coffin and goes to live with his descendants – reclusive Michelle Pfeiffer, her useless brother Jonny Lee Miller, and Pfeiffer’s stroppy daughter Chloë Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass). They are soon joined by a psychiatrist (Bonham Carter) – and plagued by Depp’s bats*** witchy stalker Eva Green.
Given the pedigree of cast and crew, it looks like we’re in for a treat. Sure, Burton’s made a few missteps over the years (I was never too impressed with Big Fish), but on the whole Tim Burton is pretty reliable, and this trailer is delicious.
