#musicmonday : Tashaki Miyaki – Hollywood Forever Cemetary Sings

It’s a cover of Father John Misty, who I’ve never heard of, either. I caught it on the Line of Best Fit podcast and loved it. I think you will too.  It’s the languid groove, the warm fuzzy vocals, everything slightly distorted. It’s like indie rock in the 90s, only cooler. It’s what the kids now think the music sounded like back then. Except for The Breeders, who really did sound like that.

You can download the Tashaki Miyaki track for free via Bandcamp. Here’s the song:

Oh, it turns out that I haven’t been paying attention – Collapse Board and the Guardian featured Tashaki Miyaki months ago, but I suppose I didn’t investigate further because they likened them to Jesus & Mary Chain and I was never much of a fan, and the highlighted tracks were a bit meh. This, though, is haunting.
