Suggestions for Charlotte Church’s next bored moment

Charlotte Church by Keven Law

So Charlotte Church has an “indie” record out. She’s led an interesting life. Ever since being “discovered” at the age of 11

.

.

and being catapulted to fame as a classical singer, she wasn’t going to really be normal. When she was 19, she ditched the arias and released a pop album.

.

.

She had four hit singles, but was chiefly famous for a string of tabloid newspaper headlines regarding her on-off relationship with an international rugby player. The curvaceous star was even voted Britain’s Sexiest Woman. By 2006, she had her own TV show.

.

.

Charlotte released another album, Back to Scratch, in 2010, but it tanked. The album entered the charts at number 23, but by the following week it had slipped to number 65. This may or may not be because it was f***ing awful.

.

.

So she’s obviously had a bit of a rethink, and this is the result. How Not To Be Surprised When You’re A Ghost is from Charlotte’s new EP, which will be coming out in September 2012. It’s not going to set the world alight, but it’s definitely an improvement.

.

In their review of Charlotte’s recent Brighton gig, Line of Best Fit suggest she should “follow the path of Austra” (by which I presume they mean she should play 80s-style electropop).

.

.

I still think that’s playing safe. With a voice like hers, metal definitely seems to be her calling.

.

.

I guess that’s not so much of a leap from what she’s done before. How about this?

.

.

No way. Still far too “nice”. Nope. If Charlotte really wants to stretch herself creatively and demonstrate the full power of her voice, there’s only one thing for it.
