The best of kids’ TV

With a tot in the house, I find myself watching way too much kids’ television. Some of it is quite entertaining.

THE HOOBS

A British puppet show from the Jim Henson stable. It’s sort of Fraggle Rock-ish, for toddlers, with a fun 70s-glam-rock-style soundtrack.

BEAR BEHAVING BADLY

Live-action sitcom with a rather disturbing-looking sock puppet. The slapstick sight gags are way funnier than they ought to be.

TRAPPED: EVER AFTER

It’s basically The Crystal Maze for kids. The music sounds suspiciously like Suspect by Foetus, which always amuses me.

ALMOST NAKED ANIMALS

A Canadian animated series that has a similar warped animation style to Ren & Stimpy and is pretty much as mind-bogglingly weird.

BIG TIME RUSH

Nickelodeon live-action sitcom about a boy band. The puerile humour is entertaining enough to keep the grown-ups giggling.

SCOOBY DOO

Although it’s of its time, it never gets old and never fails to entertain.
