5 greatest Siouxsie and the Banshees moments

I just suddenly had the urge to listen to this

which is such a weird choice, because it’s Siouxsie and the Banshees’ most straightforward pop song. It’s almost too poppy, obscuring their definitively counter-culture roots, but Siouxsie’s unusual voice as always elevates it. Talvin Singh performs on this, which came as a surprise to me because I always liked Talvin Singh. I used to go to the Blue Note, way back when, where he had a DJ set, though those nights were something of a blur.

I think there was a general warming to South Asian culture in the early 90s, so the timing was right for Siouxsie’s hit. I still more associate her with music like this, though:

Funny. I’ve never considered myself much of a Siouxsie fan, but I basically like everything she’s done. We’ve got a couple of Creatures albums knocking about the house, too. I’ll have to dig them out and give them a listen some time.
