San Cisco’s Wild Things is one of those rare, beautiful moments when something unexpected lands in your inbox and is good. Let’s be honest here, I’m pretty picky about music. I don’t really like most of what I hear, but I like this.
It starts off threatening to be the usual simpering bilge before bounding off in a completely different direction. It’s a sort of scuzzy indie pop with male-female vocals that’s slightly out of phase with how these things are supposed to go. It’s a little bit off-kilter, and that’s what I like.
This is San Cisco’s second UK single for Columbia, taken from their eponymous debut album which will be out later this year. Their last release, Beach EP, was rotated on XFM and Zane Lowe’s spot on Radio 1 (not that I’ve listened to R1 in quite some time).
It’s pleasant and breezy, but intriguing enough to whet my appetite for more.
