#musicmonday : Kraftwerk – Autobahn (live at the Tate Modern)

Kraftwerk in Kiew by Andriy V Makukha

So, yes, an awful lot of people wanted to see Kraftwerk at the Tate Modern last week.

The Guardian described it as “a timeless expression of wide-eyed wonder”, and I think they capture the imagination in exactly the same way that Tron does. It’s the electronic as alien.

Here’s Radioland

and It’s More Fun to Compute. This really reminds me of Front Line Assembly – wouldn’t sound out of place on Tactical Neural Implant.

And – of course -here’s Autobahn. It’s four minutes short, apparently, but I’m sure we can guess the rest. It took a few of its 12-minute running time for me to decide that I liked the drum and bass bits. Just like the idea of four blokes standing still playing keyboards, it shouldn’t work, but it does.
