A few weeks ago, Chris Razor wrote about clank – a new genre title he’d coined, and I was grateful, because I’d been trying to think of a word for it for ages. I was getting fed up of saying “experimental electronica”, because that makes it sound like it sounds more like this and it doesn’t. Instead, it sounds like this.
Regular readers of this blog might have noticed a dearth of lengthy, thoughtful articles of late, and that’s because I’ve been channeling my energies elsewhere. Take today, for example: I spent the energy I would have spent here on shopping for pushchairs. Any spare energy that wasn’t taken up with that was focussed – as usual – on trying very hard not to throw up.

H3llb3nt – Haloblack’s Bryan Black, Chemlab’s Jared Louche, 16 Volt’s Eric Powell, and anyone else they could rope in at the time – released the album Hardcore Vanilla back in 2001. It was mostly ignored, which is a shame, because it was at least attempting to do something that didn’t sound exactly like everything else at the time.
